Safety Tips for Halloween 2020

October 23, 2020

Like many celebrations this year, 2020s Halloween will look a bit different! Here are some tips from the CDC on how adults can safely celebrate Halloween during COVID-19.

Trick-or-Treating
This year, the CDC recommends leaving individual gift bags at the end of the driveway or yard for trick-or-treaters to maintain social distancing. Avoid direct contact with the trick-or-treaters and always wash your hands and wear a mask before handling treats.

Stick to Outdoor Events
The CDC encourages people to participate in outdoor Halloween events this year, such as visiting a pumpkin patch or orchard. Remember, you are more likely to get or spread a virus when you are in close contact with others, so make sure to stay at least 6 feet away from others who don’t live with you. Activities like outdoor corn mazes and haunted forests will allow you to participate in the festivities while staying safe!

Decorate, Decorate, Decorate
Decorating your home for Halloween is the lowest risk activity you can participate in this year. Try carving and decorating pumpkins with the rest of your household, or hold a Halloween movie night. You can even try a virtual costume contest with your loved ones and show off your decorations.
