Artful Living

Making the decision to retire is never an easy task. It is a decision that requires thought, preparation and the innate ability to adapt to change. The ultimate goal is to be taken care of while also experiencing the lifestyle you’ve always wanted. Lyn Snyder has been a resident at Lake Prince Woods for over six years. She is a Philadelphia native and retired office manager. Lyn has six children, 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. It’s safe to say that family is a top priority.

“I moved to Virginia to be closer to my children and years later I found out about Lake Prince Woods which was a plus,” said Lyn. She considers making the decision to move to Lake Prince Woods to be the best decision she has ever made. “Lake Prince is an amazing place; the people here encourage you to try something new and really support you doing the things you love,” she said. Lyn credits the wonderful staff for making the transition easy and appreciates the exceptional level of service and care they offer residents. When she’s not enjoying visits from relatives, Lyn loves to spend time with her Lake Prince Woods family and taking advantage of the community’s wide range of creative activity programs.

For the past 40 years Lyn has been painting. She cites her mother as her inspiration, “after my mother passed, I was handed a basket full of supplies from my sister and she joked that it was my inheritance.” Lyn took those supplies, found a teacher and has been painting ever since. “The hardest part about creating anything whether it be painting, crafts, or knitting is deciding when it is finished,” Lyn is often seen painting beautiful pieces of artwork in her spare time. According to Lyn, “Lake Prince Woods offers me the ability to get away and really focus on what I love to do, without the distractions of my phone, tv, and whatever else I have going on in my apartment or life.” We asked Lyn, “what makes her happy?” She told us, “seeing other people happy and having a good time.” She says it is important to have positive

attitude toward life.
