Associate Executive Director Graduates from National Leadership Academy

November 16, 2018

SUFFOLK, VA- Lake Prince Woods’ Associate Executive Director, Kimberly Searcy, graduates from the Larry Minnix Leadership Academy through LeadingAge. This is a year-long leadership development program designed to enhance the leadership skills and core competencies of not-for-profit leaders within the LeadingAge membership.

The Academy’s year-long, graduate-level curriculum unfolds over five in-person experiences and monthly virtual gatherings. It provides a broad understanding of leadership theory and practice through multiple program components, including exposure to a foundation of leadership knowledge that fellows can draw from to identify, grow and have the confidence to leverage their own leadership abilities. The program allows participants to tour innovative organizations and meet the people responsible for transforming care and service delivery in our field. They are also able to gain a diverse perspective from seasoned leaders and colleagues in the field to foster a deeper understanding of issues facing aging services providers.

The fellows were challenged to choose a project that will help bridge the gaps within the healthcare field. These projects were used to bring awareness to different perspectives in the industry. Searcy completed her Action Learning Project (ALP) on residents living in memory care. Her goal was to share her true perspective and passion for memory care communities. The academy afforded her the opportunity to relay that message. Her ALP was titled Embracing Memory Care.
