Caregiving is demanding work
May 12, 2020
Caregiving is demanding work, and at Lake Prince At Home, our C.N.A.s (Certified Nursing Assistants) are extremely valuable members of our care team. This month, we are proud to feature one of our C.N.A.s in our employee spotlight. Congratulations to Courtney Elam on graduating from the Paul D Camp Community College Program for Registered Nurses!
Courtney Elam was born in Franklin, Virginia and graduated from Windsor High School in 2001. In 2004 she attended the Supporting Transformational Opportunities for People (STOP) Inc. program where she received her C.N.A. certification. Elam has been working in nursing homes and rehabilitation centers for over 16 years! “What I enjoy the most about working with the elderly and rehab are all of the life stories and events that people of all walks of life have to share once you build a relationship with them,” said Elam.
Elam has been working at Lake Prince Woods for 4 years now. “The sense of community between the faculty and the residents is what sets Lake Prince apart from other facilities,” shared Elam. “Courtney brings joy with her each time she walks into the room,” said Donna Karr, LPN and supervisor to Elam. “Her calm personality, her sense of self-assuredness, and her ‘can do’ attitude is what makes her an asset to the Lake Prince Home Care team. She consistently and effortlessly delivers person-centered care. We are so proud of her graduating and becoming a Registered Nurse!”
