Lake Prince Woods Senior Community Offers Alzheimer's Support Group to Community

Suffolk, Virginia – Lake Prince Woods, an award winning senior living community in Suffolk, has partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association to offer a monthly Alzheimer’s support group the third Monday of every month at 3:00 p.m. that is free to the public.  The group offers the emotional, educational, and social support needed when dealing with loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease. The support group is beneficial for family members and caregivers involved with caring for a person with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia.

The support group is led by Precious Tillman, Assisted Living Director for Lake Prince Woods. Ms. Tillman is a Certified Dementia Practitioner, which is a theory based dementia certification that adds a great sense of philosophy to her craft. Ms. Tillman spent most of her professional career working with dementia in the elderly population. She has previously managed and supported a dementia household for several years. Ms. Tillman is also a Licensed Practical Nurse and has facilitated many support groups. Ms. Tillman stated “I believe that the support groups are an outlet for the participants involved. It gives them insight and answers unanswered questions. I have compassion for anyone working with the Alzheimer’s population. I believe compassion is the key to giving good care.”
